Bearded nutcracker

A design with a story...

Wooden nutcrackers, as we know them today, date from the 19th century. The first commercial model, carved by a German woodworker, was based on a character from a children's book about a “King Nutcracker”.
The puppets weren’t associated with Christmas until in 1892, when Tchaikovsky's famous ballet, The Nutcracker, debuted. Because the ballet is set on Christmas Eve (and the hero is a nutcracker coming to life), the nutcrackers quickly became associated with holiday decorations.

The nutcrackers have been integrated in our collection for a long time as indispensable Christmas decor.

Our new storage jars are made of new bone porcelain, which is very sturdy and doesn’t chip or break easily. The storage jars close with a bamboo lid, which has a rubber closing ring to secure the content. With our beautiful ‘Bearded nutcracker’ design on them, we think these storage jars can be both practical and real eyecatchers in the kitchen.

Tip: they are very versatile, for example for storing matches or tea lights on your table!
